Cypress featured on the blog!

Cypress featured on the blog!

I’ve been shooting videos for TurnHere as part of their filmmaker network for awhile now, and this is the first time one of the videos I both shot and edited was selected as “Video of the Week” (another assignment I shot for Gymboree was also selected). The video was created for the new restaurant Cypress in downtown Walnut Creek.

Dimitri, the marketing director for Cypress, and I answered a few questions and TurnHere featured a little blog about it: http://www.turnhere.com/blog/post/cypress-video-of-the-week/

I approach all of my projects, big and small, with gumption and even though the owners I’ve heard back from have always expressed gratitude and satisfaction, it’s great to also be recognized by the TurnHere staff themselves.

Looking forward to shooting more assignments and meeting the locals!

TurnHere/Yelp Video of the Week

Monday, July 26th, 2010

One of my freelance jobs includes assignments I complete for TurnHere.com. As part of their filmmaker network, I get hired to shoot and edit short videos for local businesses. It’s been a great way to keep my skills sharp between jobs and it gets me involved with the community.

To my surprise this morning, I received an email from TurnHere notifying me that a recent Yelp video I shot was awarded as “TurnHere Video of the Week”! It was for shooting a Yelp video for child play center, Gymboree.

I remember how much this particular shoot really kept me on my toes as an HD-DSLR user. The imagery you get with a shallow depth is amazing, but it comes at a cost. It becomes quite the task to keep focus on subject matter, much more so when they are little kids full of energy! Teachers Heather and Beth made the interview process painless because their passion for their kids came through very naturally on camera.

Also, thank you Barbara G. for her great work on the edit!
